Big businesses are often the lightening rod for criticism and frustration that stems from the thinking that the corporation and the people running the corporation move forward with heartless greed as fuel and motivation.
That may be the case for some. However, businesses are incredibly powerful tools for positive change. They are nimble, creative, flexible, and, often, can cross lines and push limits unlike any government organization. It seems now, more than ever, businesses are finding even greater ability, encouragement, and value in creating “good” along with their products, services, jobs, and profits.
Here, Coca-Cola, uses its brand, perspective, and knowledge to do something unexpected, special, and beautiful.
Make today Another Best Day,
The internet is good for so many things. But, like we talked about last week, it needs to be kept in the proper place and viewed with the right perspective.
Enjoy the good, the connectivity, and the learning, but give yourself the chance to step away.
Your deeds are your monuments.
Honks Heard by Hundreds
Having spent the past weekend in NYC, I had a great time exploring, adventuring, discovering, eating, and enjoying all the excitement of being in The City. A visit like that spurs countless thoughts (especially coming from VT), but one thing that stands out is the noise. It is simply a loud, restless place.
And a major contributor to that noise is the horn. Used for everything from anger to awareness, the staccato of horns constantly punctures the air.
These bellowing interruptions could be heard everywhere —- while we were walking the streets, strolling in the park, enjoying a meal, sipping on a drink, or relaxing in the hotel —- and that’s when I realized that we’re not alone. Everyone lives with these constant interruptions. And, shockingly, they’re interruptions caused by one person whose hand is pressed against a button attempting to “communicate” with another person.
Strangely, while intended for one person, a honk is heard by hundreds.
We often think about the primary person impacted by our actions, but it takes a deliberate effort to consider the secondary or tertiary levels of people effected by an action.
Let us remember this as we go about our days —- that the nature of being social creatures is that we constantly impact those around us. Negative behaviors like rudeness, aggression, frustration, and anger spread to everyone with in reach. On the flip side, generosity, politeness, happiness, and energy are equally contagious.
Make today Another Best Day for yourself and for everyone within reach,
PS: When thinking about solutions for decreasing honking, I propose the following: we make horns as loud INSIDE of the car as they are OUTSIDE of the car. If you really need to honk, you will.
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as you ever can.
Thank you to ABD Catalyst, Audrey, for sending this one our way.
You CAN have Another Best Day this weekend!
3 minutes and 22 seconds of Aesthetic Bliss to Calm Your Day
Have you ever had one of those days where you
Earlier this week, I had a couple of those days and needed a break. Often a walk, a run, a coffee break, or a bike ride would do the trick —- but on these particular days those things weren’t happening.
Needing something beautiful and calming in my life, I found this video on Vimeo and it did the trick.
So go ahead, load the video in HD, make it full screen, and let it run. Don’t rush. Take it in. Soak in the views. Cherish the sky. Marvel at the water. Breathe.
And, you may want to bookmark it —- just in case there is another day where you can’t quite leave, but you need some respite.
Another Best Day is the one you make,
For the Friday Win… This is the stuff we live for.
The Social Revolution - Remember Me
Technology is great, but humanes are even greater. It is the humane spirit that drives us to create, innovate, connect, develop, explore, and discover. And the results of these pursuits are making the world smaller, flatter, more interconnected —- they are allowing us to share the humane experience, the world’s beauty, and our own creativity like no time in history. It’s time for Another Best Day.
Enjoy the short,
