This video shares the story of Zach Sobiech, a young man who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Produced as part of SoulPancake’s web series and is hard to watch: it will bring you to tears, make you smile with its beauty and message, and hopefully, inspire you to cherish the gift of each day that you live.
Zach’s has managed to show us all, through the way he lived his life, treated his family, and cared for his friends, that LIFE is meant to be LIVED with positivity, hope, and goodness.

Fighting off the New England water’s chill with wetsuits, booties, and gloves, I was able to catch some waves with a couple buddies and, thanks to Frank at Thread Designs Surfboards, I did so on a custom ABD surfboard,
The board, which is the shortest I’ve ever owned, felt great. It will take a little getting used to, but it had great mobility, speed, and float. With salty smiles, we knew we had found our ABD on a NH beach.
If you happen to share the same affinity for water, you might just like our new shirt.

Waiting in line for Another Best Day
This morning I was grumpy.
We all have those mornings, when nothing is really different from the day before, you’re just —- you know —- grumpy! I took my dog out for a morning walk: that didn’t change my mood. I sat down and had my morning coffee: still grumpy. Then, I went to my local store to get some eggs for breakfast and standing in line right there in the store it hit me:
Who am I to just assume and expect that everyday for me will be automatically awesome?
With no conscious effort, I just EXPECTED to wake up feeling great. Of course, most days I do, but there are those odd occasions when it’s just not clicking. This was one of those days and I was annoyed that I wasn’t feeling great; this of course put me in even more of a mood.
Then, standing in line to pay for my eggs it hit me; we can’t brazenly just expect to feel great and then be annoyed when we don’t. Most of the time, we have to do something to change our attitude and create our own smiles!
Today, all it took was one random act of kindness. I looked round at the person behind me who had just a sandwich and a juice in his hands. He looked to be in a rush and had stress written all over his face. I turned to him and said “You look like you’re in a bigger rush than me mate, you wanna go ahead,” and let him in front of me.
So simple. It was almost nothing at all, but it made all the difference in the world.
By offering this small act, I made this guy’s morning run a little smoother and also put a smile on my own face. For the rest of the day I carried that smile and had an AWESOME day. Nothing special happened, then again, it doesn’t always have to.
It would be great if everyday we woke up ready to tackle new adventures and challenges, but sometimes life doesn’t work like that. When you wake up in one of ‘those’ moods, I urge you to try and enrich someone else’s life and, in some small way, give them the start of Another Best Day. It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture, just a small act to help them along. I guarantee you it will be repaid ten fold and maybe help you bring yourself around and create your own best day.
It isn’t always about the big adventures…sometimes Another Best Day can come standing inline waiting to pay for some eggs.

Big businesses are often the lightening rod for criticism and frustration that stems from the thinking that the corporation and the people running the corporation move forward with heartless greed as fuel and motivation.
That may be the case for some. However, businesses are incredibly powerful tools for positive change. They are nimble, creative, flexible, and, often, can cross lines and push limits unlike any government organization. It seems now, more than ever, businesses are finding even greater ability, encouragement, and value in creating “good” along with their products, services, jobs, and profits.

The internet is good for so many things. But, like we talked about last week, it needs to be kept in the proper place and viewed with the right perspective.
Enjoy the good, the connectivity, and the learning, but give yourself the chance to step away.
Your deeds are your monuments.
